Meet The Stylists
What is your name?
Louise Fudge
What is your job title?
I own Louise Fudge Hairdressing. I am a Colour and Style Director
How long have you been a stylist?
17 years
Please tell us about your previous jobs in the hairdressing industry.
I started at Andrew Collinge where Andrew designed a bespoke fast track course for me. It was a private course, where I trained in Loreal colour and covered all aspects of hairdressing. I started my career in hairdressing in my mid 20’s so needed to learn quickly and from the best.
I then went on to work at Nicolas Jon, Little Sutton, Cheshire for 4 years, the latter as a manager. I then moved to Sheffield and managed a salon in a 5 star health club, until my second son was born. I then took two years out to renovate my house and look after my two young boys.
I then went back into hairdressing with the help and support from my best friend Dawn Evans at the Retreat in Ellesmere Port, refreshing all my skills and getting up to speed with latest hair trends and techniques.
After this I landed a job as a Stylist at the prestigious award winning Wigs and Warpaint in Sheffield. It is here my obsession with Redken came. Over the next 3 years I learnt an incredible amount from forward thinking salon owner Claire Flack before deciding to move back to the Wirral to open my own salon in October 2015.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing / are you renowned for? Why do you love doing these styles/colours?
I love blonde hair colour. I love creating sun kissed blonde highlights you used to have when you were little. My couture natural highlight clients come to me twice a year that’s all.
Being a natural blonde myself I understand the struggles this can bring! But this also allows me to deliver exceptional results. So, if it’s super close to the root highlights, or sun kissed balayage, I’m your go to girl.
I also love natural, beachy waves, soft layers and framed fringes. I also specialise in cutting curly hair, not everyone can do it, but I love it and do it well.
What do you love about being a hairdresser?
I truly love people and learning what they really want to achieve. It’s a great feeling when we change someone’s hair for the better whether that’s a hair colour correction service to remove a build up of colour, or helping transform their hair with a bold new look.
The compliments and feedback we get from our clients keeps us motivated and that’s what inspires us to keep learning and attending training courses to learn new techniques and styles.
The education we receive from Redken is the best I’ve ever known. I took another team member to Las Vegas in January for 3 days of classes and it was immense! We learnt so much, plus we met our colouring idol Tracey Cunningham.
All the Hollywood actresses and singers go to her, and as a Redken ambassador she shared all her colour recipes, so I can create a Jennifer Lopez or a Khloe Kardashian colour on my clients now no problem.
Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?
I would take those hair extensions out of Katie Prices hair and completely tone her down and give her a classy colour. Less is more as you get older so I feel she needs to embrace her natural curls and the next decade of her life subtly.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?
Tracey Cunningham inspires me a lot, she is famous for creating that Californian sun kissed style - that typical Pinterest balayage look. I also admire Kris Sorbie, a colourist who is 60 years old but brought us the ombré 25 years ago. Kris was another Redken Ambassador who I was fortunate to do an educational hair colour class with in Vegas - a true inspiration.
If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you?
Redken extreme shampoo, conditioner and the Redken Extreme Anti Snap leave in treatment. I take this on holiday with me great to apply after swimming. This whole range is heaven sent for blondes.
What is your ultimate ambition?
My ultimate ambition is to create a team of fantastic hair colourists in my Cheshire salon that want a career more than just a job. I really enjoy watching my team grow and love giving them the opportunity to develop into amazing colourists.
Loyalty is hugely important to me and I truly believe, together we are stronger than we are alone. I take good people with me, so the sky’s the limit.
What is your name?
Samantha O'Neil
What is your job title?
Senior Colour Technician & Stylist
How long have you been a stylist?
I have been hairdressing for a total of 19 years. For the first 17 years of my career I worked in an Aveda exclusive salon in Christleton where I focused on my colour career, being Salon Manager also helped me to add to my skills set. The past two years I have worked at a salon in Cheshire where I have learnt lots of new techniques and trends.
Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing/are you renowned for? Why do you love doing these styles/colours?
I love every single aspect of hair colouring and really don't mind what service I'm doing! I love getting creative with colour and thinking outside the box to deliver a look my clients will love.
Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?
All of them after lockdown! If I had to pick just one it would be Paloma Faith. I think she has great hair and it's never the same - sometimes she has a dramatic look other times sophisticated.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?
I follow lots of inspirational people and hair salons on Facebook and love seeing what other people are up to. This lets me see lots of new ideas, techniques and styles that I can try out for myself. My main inspiration comes from the team working around me, what you can learn from each other is endless.
What is your ultimate ambition?
Well, if this profession has taught me anything, it's that it is unpredictable. My goal is to continue to work hard, learn lots and most importantly push the Louise Fudge brand forward and make it the biggest it could be.
