Louise Fudge';

What is your name?

Louise Fudge

What is your job title?

I own Louise Fudge Hairdressing. I am a Colour and Style Director

How long have you been a stylist?

17 years

Please tell us about your previous jobs in the hairdressing industry.

I started at Andrew Collinge where Andrew designed a bespoke fast track course for me. It was a private course, where I trained in Loreal colour and covered all aspects of hairdressing. I started my career in hairdressing in my mid 20’s so needed to learn quickly and from the best.

I then went on to work at Nicolas Jon, Little Sutton, Cheshire for 4 years, the latter as a manager. I then moved to Sheffield and managed a salon in a 5 star health club, until my second son was born. I then took two years out to renovate my house and look after my two young boys.

I then went back into hairdressing with the help and support from my best friend Dawn Evans at the Retreat in Ellesmere Port, refreshing all my skills and getting up to speed with latest hair trends and techniques.

After this I landed a job as a Stylist at the prestigious award winning Wigs and Warpaint in Sheffield. It is here my obsession with Redken came. Over the next 3 years I learnt an incredible amount from forward thinking salon owner Claire Flack before deciding to move back to the Wirral to open my own salon in October 2015.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing / are you renowned for?  Why do you love doing these styles/colours?

I love blonde hair colour. I love creating sun kissed blonde highlights you used to have when you were little. My couture natural highlight clients come to me twice a year that’s all.

Being a natural blonde myself I understand the struggles this can bring! But this also allows me to deliver exceptional results. So, if it’s super close to the root highlights, or sun kissed balayage, I’m your go to girl.

I also love natural, beachy waves, soft layers and framed fringes. I also specialise in cutting curly hair, not everyone can do it, but I love it and do it well.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?

I truly love people and learning what they really want to achieve. It’s a great feeling when we change someone’s hair for the better whether that’s a hair colour correction service to remove a build up of colour, or helping transform their hair with a bold new look.

The compliments and feedback we get from our clients keeps us motivated and that’s what inspires us to keep learning and attending training courses to learn new techniques and styles.

The education we receive from Redken is the best I’ve ever known. I took another team member to Las Vegas in January for 3 days of classes and it was immense! We learnt so much, plus we met our colouring idol Tracey Cunningham.

All the Hollywood actresses and singers go to her, and as a Redken ambassador she shared all her colour recipes, so I can create a Jennifer Lopez or a Khloe Kardashian colour on my clients now no problem.

Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?

I would take those hair extensions out of Katie Prices hair and completely tone her down and give her a classy colour. Less is more as you get older so I feel she needs to embrace her natural curls and the next decade of her life subtly.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

Tracey Cunningham inspires me a lot, she is famous for creating that Californian sun kissed style - that typical Pinterest balayage look. I also admire Kris Sorbie, a colourist who is 60 years old but brought us the ombré 25 years ago. Kris was another Redken Ambassador who I was fortunate to do an educational hair colour class with in Vegas - a true inspiration.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you?

Redken extreme shampoo, conditioner and the Redken Extreme Anti Snap leave in treatment. I take this on holiday with me great to apply after swimming. This whole range is heaven sent for blondes.

What is your ultimate ambition?

My ultimate ambition is to create a team of fantastic hair colourists in my Cheshire salon that want a career more than just a job. I really enjoy watching my team grow and love giving them the opportunity to develop into amazing colourists.

Loyalty is hugely important to me and I truly believe, together we are stronger than we are alone. I take good people with me, so the sky’s the limit.

Sarah Pollard';

What is your name?

Sarah Pollard

What is your job title?

Lead Colourist at our Cheshire hair salon.

How long have you been a stylist?

I have been qualified for 9 years but have been in the hair industry longer as I did three-year apprenticeship at an Aveda salon in Christleton.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing?

I love any creative colours or correction as I get to show my skills and creativity using different tones. I always love the end result and seeing the client’s reaction.

Why do you love doing these styles/colours?

Doing these types of colours helps me improve each time as it really pushes me to use my knowledge and everything I have learnt, mainly with the Redken training provide including a once in a life time trip to Las Vegas to Redken symposium with the best training available.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?

I like working in a positive work environment and helping to create this. I like being able to make people leave the salon feeling transformed and happy with their hair.

Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?

I’d love to give Holly Willoughby a complete transformation and would achieve this by removing yellow tones from her hair with flash lift and ph. bond, whilst introducing a lowlight through to create dimensions followed with a root shadow to create a seamless blend.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

My boss Louise inspires me every day to better myself and pushes me to work the best I can whether that’s trying a new technique I haven’t tried before or how to be the best manager I can be to enable us to work as a team and achieve the highest of standards in the industry.

If you had to live on a desert island, which three hair products would you take with you?

One United for protecting me from the sun because I hope this island is hot, Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame Leave In Conditioner to manage and keep it tame and All Soft Mega Shampoo because I couldn’t stand to have dirty hair.

What is your ultimate ambition?

To keep building the Louise Fudge brand and creating the best go-to colour salon in the North West.

Samantha O’Neil';

What is your name?

Samantha O'Neil

What is your job title?

Senior Colour Technician & Stylist

How long have you been a stylist?

I have been hairdressing for a total of 19 years. For the first 17 years of my career I worked in an Aveda exclusive salon in Christleton where I focused on my colour career, being Salon Manager also helped me to add to my skills set. The past two years I have worked at a  salon in Cheshire where I have learnt lots of new techniques and trends.

Which styles or colours do you absolutely love doing/are you renowned for?  Why do you love doing these styles/colours?

I love every single aspect of hair colouring and really don't mind what service I'm doing! I love getting creative with colour and thinking outside the box to deliver a look my clients will love.

Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?

All of them after lockdown! If I had to pick just one it would be Paloma Faith. I think she has great hair and it's never the same - sometimes she has a dramatic look other times sophisticated.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

I follow lots of inspirational people and hair salons on Facebook and love seeing what other people are up to. This lets me see lots of new ideas, techniques and styles that I can try out for myself.  My main inspiration comes from the team working around me, what you can learn from each other is endless.

What is your ultimate ambition?

Well, if this profession has taught me anything, it's that it is unpredictable. My goal is to continue to work hard, learn lots and most importantly push the Louise Fudge brand forward and make it the biggest it could be.

Kirsty Lloyd';

What is your name?

Kirsty Lloyd

What is your job title?

Stylist

How long have you been a stylist?

Around three years now. It has been quite a journey! It has taught me that it takes time to achieve your goals and nothing worth doing is ever easy.

What previous experience do you have?

I have previously worked a hair salon in Chester - this is where I began my hairdressing apprenticeship. I progressed quickly and my career goals brought me here!

Which hairstyles or colours do you absolutely love doing?

I absolutely love doing a really glamourous Hollywood wave set curl. I feel it makes a bold statement and is a real classy & sophisticated look. I look to look at hair as the crown we never take off, so it should always be a women's pride & joy.

What do you love about being a hairdresser?

I love the fact that is job that requires skill and talent - not just anyone can be a hairdresser. I feel it take a certain type of person to make it as a stylist as it can be very challenging at times.

I adore transforming client’s hair and find it very rewarding when clients leave the salon looking and feeling fantastic!

Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on & why?

Emily Ratajkowski! She is a beautiful American actress & model but I always feel her hair colour is a bit dull.  She has a plain, brunette hair colour and I think that her skin tone would suit a multi tonal balayage. I'd hand paint some strong blonde highlights around her face to enhance her features and finish the look with a messy, beachy waved hairstyle.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?

Simply just being optimistic and looking forward to my future as a hairdresser is what inspires me. Reaching that end goal is what keeps me focused and makes me want to push myself more and more every day. I am very lucky as I do have the best team of girls who all inspire be in different ways, and they all give 110% - what's more inspiring than that?

If you had to live on a dessert island which three hair products would you take?

Redken pillow proof blow dry extender Redken extreme strength provider Redken colour extend blondage shampoo

What is your ultimate ambition?

To continue progressing and building myself into the best hairdresser anyone could hope to be. The dream would be for the salon and team to continuously keep growing and expanding - maybe even open more Louise Fudge salons of which I could become manager!
