The Importance of Consultations at Louise Fudge Colour Specialist Salon In Heswall

Here we explain the importance of hair consultations, why we charge a fee to new clients and the impact that no-shows and last-minute cancellations can have on our stylists and hair salon.

Your consultation will include discussing your hair colour history, colour goals, AAT (allergy alert test) and bespoke colour plan journey. A strand test may be carried out if necessary.

Consultations allow new clients time to get to know us, ask questions and feel comfortable in discussing the different options available to them which will enable us to carefully curate a personalised plan of action. We strongly believe the foundation of a great hair cut & colour comes from an in-depth consultation. This fee reflects the value of a stylist's time, knowledge, and gives a one-to-one, personalised service to ensure the very best results are achieved. It’s important to remember that changing your look can be a journey, with more than one visit to the salon needed to achieve the desired result.

What Happens During Your Consultation

Your consultation will last around 30 minutes and is a crucial step in ensuring you get a result that you will love. The consultation allows your stylist to offer expert advice, suggest suitable styles, treatments, colouring techniques and trends, and address any concerns you may have.

- Your stylist will carefully assess your hair type, texture, and overall condition

- They will discuss your lifestyle and desired outcome

- Discuss factors such as maintenance and skin tone

- Discuss budget and maintenance appointments

- How long the process will take & any homecare needed

- AAT (allergy test) and strand test if necessary

How Much Does a Hair Consultation Cost?

All new clients will be required to pay a £30 fee for your consultation. Following your consultation, if you decide to go ahead with a service this amount will be allocated to your file, and taken off your final bill. If you decide that you’d rather not go ahead, please note that the consultation fee is non-refundable.

Louise Fudge hairdressing values our customers and endeavours to provide a top-quality service to all our clients every time they visit. Read all our salon policies.

Why We Charge a Fee

In the hairdressing industry, the success of a salon relies not only on a loyal clientele and skilled team but also on effective time management and financial sustainability. One crucial aspect that often goes unnoticed is the significance of charging for consultations.

One of the most pressing challenges faced by hair salons is the issue of no-shows and last-minute cancellations. These disruptions have a big effect on the salon and the livelihoods of its stylists. When clients fail to show up for appointments or cancel on short notice, the salon loses not only potential revenue but also the opportunity to fill that time slot with another client.

Earnings for stylists are directly tied to the number of clients they see on a given day. No-shows and last-minute cancellations result in unproductive gaps, impacting their ability to earn a consistent income. In conclusion, charging for consultations is necessary as it helps us maintain a balance between providing a quality service whilst ensuring financial stability.
